NOTE: Hans Jaenisch was a German prisoner of war in Arizona during WWII where he was allowed to paint Southwest American scenes of life. Remarkably, his work was exhibited during this time period and highly regarded in the art world. The American government supplied him with the needed art supplies. After the end of the war, he returned to his homeland of Germany where his style of painting turned to the more abstract.
