    LOT OF ANTIQUE OCEANIAN ETHNOGRAPHIC ITEMS - A beautiful assortment of items from Fiji, Cook Islands, Solomon Island, and New Zealand. Each of these items are part of the large life-long collection of J.J. Schmidt Jr. Includes: A leather “shield” 36” x 19 3/8”; 8 pieces of shell grave goods; a comb (has a few broken spines), a thatch needle 14 1/4” L; a Maori carving 9 1/4” L (break on one end, may have been part of larger piece); a statue of a man holding a head 8 1/4” H; a shell & stone rattle; and two thin wood sculptures of men 8” L; and a pounder made from a stalactite 7 3/8” H. Condition: These are antique items that show wear and use consistent with their age. Provenance: Items in this lot are from the estate of South Florida collector J. J. Schmidt Jr. Many of the item have older tags and one states that they were acquired around 1900.

    TWO EARLY JAPANESE CAST IRON TEAPOTS - Includes: Horse Relief - Running horse on one side, opposite side has six character maker's mark in cartouche. 4 1/2" H (not including handle), 7" dia, handle extends 4 3/4" above lid. Anthropomorphic figures - Four character mark on top of a vertical three character oblong cartouche. 5 1/4" h (not including handle), 6 1/2" bottom dia, handle extends 4 1/4" above lid. Condition: Both of these teapots are older items and show wear appropriate to age and use. Some pitting and roughness to metal.
