Description:ANN TYLER, (Florida, 20th C.), O/C, SEASCAPE WITH GULLS, 30 inches x 40 inches, in a gilt wood frame 35 ½ inches x 45 ½ inches overall; Signed and dated “Ann Tyler—‘79” lower left; bears label from The Art Shop, Lake Worth, FL. on reverse. Ann Tyler was born in Pahokee, FL and grew up there during the 1930’s. She later lived in Belle Glade, FL. She studied art with artist Graham Ingels in Lantana, FL, driving there from Belle Glade twice weekly for her studies until Ingels’ death in 1991. She became known as “the Artist of the Everglades.” Some of her paintings are in the collection of the University of Florida—IFAS Belle Glade (Everglades Research Education Center).
