    Antique American tall case clock by Isaac Brokaw (1746-1826) Bridgetown New Jersey), painted face, mahogany veneer with line inlay. Brass movement, 90"h x 17"w x 5" w/ top finial 18" wide. Isaac Brokaw (1746-1826) was an apprentice to Aaron Miller of Elizabethtown, one of New Jersey's early clockmakers and brass founders. Brokaw married his master's daughter, Elizabeth in 1766, and returned to his native Hillsborough Township to practice his trade. Upon Miller's death in 1779, Brokaw returned to Elizabethtown and continued at Miller's old shop until about 1789. Eventually Brokaw moved to Bridgetown where he trained his three sons and worked until his retirement in 1816
